Challenger Division - 11th anniversary celebration

Jun 18th, 2009

Hi Folks: On Sat from 9:30 to 1:00, we'll be celebrating the 11th anniversary of ENLL's Challenger Program. It'll also be the kick-off to a fundraising initiative to retrofit 3 diamonds in the Ottawa area with artificial turf and larger dugouts to make the fields more user friendly for kids in wheelchairs and for those whose walkers. The project will start with a diamond in Nepean. I've attached some documents that provide more information about Saturday as well as the retrofit project. Please feel free to pass this email on to friends, family, colleagues, etc. We have some parliamentarians, politicians and special guests coming out as well. Confirmed for at least some of the morning are John Baird, Pierre Pollivere, Paul Dewar, Mauril Belanger. Some local city councillors may also drop by. Dave Smith will be doing the BBQ. Also present will be Kevin Page Canada's Chief Budget Officer who helps runs the program, CJOH's Michael O'Byrne who will emcee the first game and Lawrence Greenspon, who is involved in the fundraising initiative, and will emcee the second game. We hope to raise some awareness about the program and show it off to potential corporate sponsors. I understand there are playoff games and some other activities going on on Saturday. If you have some time, it would be appreciated if you could drop by Frobel at some point on Saturday morning. We would like to ask ENLL teams if they could take an hour or so and drop by the park to watch and cheer the kids on. There be a BBQ starting around 10:45 and running till 12:30 or 1:00. It would mean a lot to our players to play before a big crowd and to hear the cheers but may also be fun and a bit of learning experience for your players as well.
